Today, a new trailer was released for the strategy roleplaying game, Digimon Survive. The trailer revealed new information about various characters, as well as the opening animation of the game. The game features all the main human characters, Takuma, Minoru, and Aoi, as well as several other’s whose names have yet to be revealed. The trailer also shows that something is off about the world that the characters live in, with earthquakes occurring often and strange weather patterns, foreshadowing the strange adventure that the main characters are bound to go on. One other character’s name has been revealed, Miu, who notices the strange phenomenon of snowfall in the Spring, however, her importance beyond the introduction in the opening trailer has yet to be determined.
The game was initially set to release in 2019, however, the release date was pushed to 2020, due to a restructuring of game development. Although fans of the Digimon series will have to wait until 2020 to get their hands on this game, once they do, they will be able to enjoy a game that allows for a unique experience in each playthrough due to the branching path system that allows for players to follow a different story route.
The trailer also showed off three of the main digimon characters, Labramon, Falcomon, and the classic Agumon. Each character has a different digimon and each digimon has a different move set that allows for a different playstyle. As the player makes choices and interacts with other characters in the game, the player and their digimon change their perspective and their digivolution route, similar to the Persona series. In other words, your choices affect how your digimon and your friends digimon digivolve. This can allow for a number of different playstyles and lets the player choose how they want to digivolve their digimon.
Digimon Survive will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. The exact release date is unknown at this time but we know that the game will be released some time in 2020.
