New ‘Blizzard World’ Overwatch Map Has a Release Date

Blizzard has announced a release date for its next Overwatch map, Blizzard World. The map had been made available on PTR back in 2017, and now with its official implementation into the game, it will be playable for console users as well. Blizzard made the announcement by tweeting out downloadable Blizzard World tickets (which you can print out if you want to add in a bit of realism).

The Blizzard World map features a theme park filled with Blizzard IP-styled attractions, including designs based off of StarCraft and World of Warcraft. The map contains a Hearthstone tavern, a pylon and siege tank from StarCraft, a Heroes of the Storm arcade, and tons of other Blizzard references populating the park.

The map goes live on January 23, and you can refresh your memory on the map by checking out the Blizzard World trailer (released back in November) below:

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
