A new Blade Runner video game was announced yesterday according to cinelinx. The new Blade Runner title, called Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will be developed and published by Annapurna Interactive. All that has been released so far is the teaser trailer for the game, shown during the Annapurna Interactive showcase, which has given very little information for fans to grasp on to.
With that being said, there has been a bit of information released. The game will be released for PC and consoles, though the date for the release has not been announced yet. Additionally, on Steam, they give a brief synopsis of what the game will be about saying:
Set between the original film and 2049, Blade Runner 2033 takes place after the events of the Black Out and asks: what does a Blade Runner do when there are no Replicants left to hunt?
This game is based on the popular Blade Runner franchise, which has received multiple movies and is set to receive new comics and a live-action series alongside the video game. Before most of these additional pieces were added to the Blade Runner IP, the video game simply titled, Blade Runner, was the most recent video game to come from the franchise in over twenty-five years. Blade Runner was released in 1997, and was met with critical acclaim and multiple awards according to IMDb.
Although there is little information out about this upcoming Blade Runner video game, the developers promised that there would be plenty of news coming up within the next few months so fans will need to stay tuned for that. Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will reveal more information in the future, but fans can take the teaser trailer as a fun glimpse into what might come in the final product of the popular franchise.
