New Battlefield 1 Update Makes Major Changes to Online Multiplayer

It’s been nearly a month now that gamers have been playing EA DICE’s new first-person shooter game, Battlefield 1. Since its launch, it’s kept a spot on the top selling video games. This is largely due to the online multiplayer gamers have been raving. But the successful sales figures and the high critical acclaim it’s received has not stopped EA DICE from improving on their work. According to Gamespot, today, EA DICE launched a massive Fall update to Battlefield 1, which will make some improved changes to the popular World War 1 shooter game.

One of the major changes EA DICE is making involves the Operations mode. One of the biggest complaints the company has been seeing is that the attacking side loses too often. So they’ve updated the game on this area, making it much easier to capture sections if you’re on the attacking team. One way they did this was by reducing the amount of time it takes to capture an enemy flag.

Another significant change involves the Suez map, which was thought to be too small for the Conquest mode. The Suez map only featured three capture points, making it very easy for one team to be able to capture and lock down all the flags. However, with the added update, DICE has added two more flags to the map, making the mode a bit more balanced for both sides. For the losing side that is having trouble defeating an overly powerful enemy, DICE has added an armored car that should also help balance the battle.

DICE went on to state that

In addition, we also noticed that it was very difficult to re-capture flags within the capture areas located in the village areas. To solve this we’ve reduced the capture size of these areas to include less buildings. The result of this should make the flags somewhat easier to capture and make sure that a team that has lost and been pushed out of the villages can easier re-capture them and get back into the fight.

Players can now also customize their soldier from within the UI, which is much needed update since you can now switch things mid-match. Battlepacks will also be able to be bought with real soon. There have also been several weapon updates, including light machine guns being able to be used as a viable mid-range weapon. Some gadgets and vehicles have also been tweaked and updated. Below is the full list of patch notes posted here on the game’s official forum.

Battlefield 1’s severs were offline earlier today, as the update was being applied, but as of now everything is up and running again. The update is listed to be about 2.2 GB. Released back on October 21st, Battlefield 1 was EA DICE’s biggest launch in their history. The game has already amounted a total of 59 million collective hours of in-game play.
