Astro, the gaming hardware maker, has revealed a new controller for the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The Astro C40 TR controller will have a high level of customization that includes swappable analog sticks and D-pad modules, programmable buttons, and the ability to adjust the trigger sensitivity. It’ll be available early next year for $199.99. Astro says that this new controller was designed “from the ground up with pro gamers and professional tournaments in mind- aspiring pros, hardcore gamers or any gamer who demands more from their gaming equipment.”
Players will be able to choose their preferred analog and D-pad configurations. There is a parallel setup which is like the DualShock controller or an offset setup like the Xbox One controller. The controller will come with a variety of stick caps that players can choose from. The C40 TR also has two rear buttons which you can map directly from the controller. More customization options are available through the PC software for Astro products. Players can also create custom controller profiles, adjust the sensitivities for the triggers and sticks, remap buttons, and more.
Additional features for the C40 TR include wired/wireless modes. Players can quickly switch from a wired mode to using Astro’s proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless mode; both options offer low latency. The controller offers wireless audio delivering high fidelity game sound and voice chat between both wired and wireless modes, and is also compatible with any gaming headset with a 3.5 mm jack. The C40 TR has trigger stops which adjust the pull distance, allowing hair-trigger performance in FPS titles. The controller also has a 12-hour battery life and will come with a travel case so you can keep your controller and all other attachments safe and protected. The Astro C40 TR is available to pre-order and will be available at Gamestop, Amazon, and Best Buy, and is expected to ship sometime in March.
