Today a new trailer was released for the upcoming life simulation game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The trailer showed off a little clip of the “Deserted Island Getaway Package” in which players will be allowed to create an entirely new life on a naturally abundant island. The trailer also reveals one of the games returning characters, Isabelle.
The trailer opens with Tom Nook Inc. revealing the brand new venture to an audience of Animal Crossing characters. The trailer promises that players will be able to “Build A Life From Scratch” and that the “Deserted Island Getaway Package” will be set on “an island full of possibilities.” The clip also reveals some of the new activities that players will be able to perform in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, such as gathering materials to craft furniture and creating pathways with a trowel tool.
The trailer also gives players a glimpse at the returning character Isabelle. The trailer shows Isabelle becoming visibly excited as the trailer goes on. While it is unknown what role Isabelle will play in the game, according to a Polygon interview with one of the developers of the game Aya Kyogoku back in June “… as the island develops a little more and it needs a little bit more support then Isabelle might see some sort of use on the island.” This implies that Isabelle will have some sort of relevance as players progress through the development of the island. As of now, nothing has been officially confirmed and no new information has been revealed at this time but it is likely that more information will eventually be released.
During E3 2019 a Treehouse Live trailer was released that showed off a number of other features players will be able to enjoy in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players will be able to pitch tents and start building things using their Nookphone’s DIY Recipe app. Players will also be able to change the weather based on their location in the real world. If they live in the Northern Hemisphere, they can set their weather to summer in June and if players live in the Southern Hemisphere, players will be able to experience winter. Players can also sell unneeded inventory to Timmy in exchange for Bells.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be releasing worldwide on Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.
