Dozens of developers and publishers take their upcoming titles to Gamescom and provide players a sneak peek and what we can expect in the immediate future. This year, Netflix showcased two of its upcoming games at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Squid Game:Unleashed and Monument Valley 3.
Squid Game: Unleashed is a 32-player party royale showdown that will feature challenges that fans of the series will recognize. Players can team up with friends, face off against enemies, and race through deadly obstacles to prove their skills and claim ultimate glory. Rewards can be unlocked through daily missions and themed events inspired by the Squid Game universe.
“Making games based on hit series and films is one of the most exciting opportunities we have at Netflix,” said Bill Jackson, Head of Creative at Boss Fight, a Netflix Game Studio. “We’re thrilled to offer fans a new way to experience the Squid Game universe — one that combines the show’s pulse-pounding action with the immersive thrill of gameplay.”
After nearly a decade, Monument Valley returns with Monument Valley 3. The game will make its way exclusively to Netflix later this year on December 10. This will be the biggest story yet where players can set sail in the beautiful universe that captured the imagination of millions and set a new standard for artistic and innovative mobile gaming.
“Monument Valley is a title that has pushed boundaries of what is possible in games, from the power of minimalist design, to the simplicity of play and the emotion of interactive storytelling,” said Jennifer Estaris, Game Director of Monument Valley 3. “Our goal is to bring our biggest Monument Valley yet to as many people as possible, which is why we partnered with Netflix to deliver the game to hundreds of millions of players around the world as part of their memberships.”
In addition to Monument Valley 3, Netflix will be bringing its predecessors, Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 to the platform prior to the new game’s release. Monument Valley will arrive on Netflix on September 19, next month. Monument Valley 2 comes to Netflix on October 29.
Netflix also announced other games coming to the platform later this year.
Diner Out is available now and has players bringing their family business back to its glory days in a cozy, comforting merge puzzle game. Players will cook up a winning menu for old friends and new customers as Emmy, a young chef who’s come home from the bustling city to revive her grandpa’s small-town diner.
In Ludo King, players will roll dice for the right numbers and race their friends to the finish line in a mobile, online version of Ludo, the classic board game that bends a classic board game that blends luck and strategy. Ludo is based on the ancient Indian game Pachisi, which has entertained players of all ages for centuries. Players will be able to play online with friends, start a party with pass-and-play multiplayer mode, practice against the computer and enter epic online multiplayer tournaments. Ludo King is now available on Netflix.
Snake.io is coming to Netflix on August 27. Players will slither around the screen to collect energy, grow bigger, and devour the competition. Players will start out as a small snake in each round. Eating energy pellets will expand their size and give players the ability to surround and cut in front of other snakes, causing them to explode into edible segments.
Battleship is the timeless, turn-based strategy game where players will arrange their ships on a grid and engage in thrilling naval battles with other players around the globe. New, special weapons will add new tactical depth, while customizable ship skins, player avatars and more let playerstake command of their game. The game will come to Netflix on September 10.
Rollercoaster Tycoon Touch is arriving on Netflix on October 8. Players will design roller coasters, build rides, and play minigames all while balancing the needs of park patrons in an adaptation of the classic PC game. A unique card-based progression system allows players to make more money, collect new rides, expand their park, and become a true roller coaster tycoon!
