Joe and Anthony Russo’s Extraction film series may be getting a video game adaptation after a $400 million deal was made between their ABGO and Japanese video game publisher Nexon. The Russo brothers and AGBO are speaking with Netflix to adapt Extraction into a video game. They will also work with Nexon to create cross-platform collaborations using its library of IP. Nexon has stated that it’s willing to invest an additional $100 million in the first half of 2022 if AGBO makes a formal request.

Details of the game are still behind the veil. It may be safe to assume that the game will feature lots of action and gunfights, considering how action-heavy the original show is. Extraction was released on Netflix in April 2020, produced by the Russo brothers and directed by Sam Hargrave. Chris Hemsworth was cast as Tyler Rake, a mercenary whose task is to rescue the son of an imprisoned criminal.
The upcoming movie Extraction 2 seems to feature Chris’s Rake again, with the teaser trailer showing Rake climbing out of the river he fell into. The Russo brothers said they want to “build out a universe of films that could potentially explore some of the other characters from the first movie and some new characters.” Joe Russo added: “We’re trying to find more interesting ways to tell these stories and cross-pollinate them. We’re big fans of just forging new paths in narrative. Can we go backwards and forwards at the same time? Can things that happened in the past affect the movies in the present? What are new ways to tell those stories? And can we see different points of view?” Although the Russo brothers gave no details on the plot of the video game, it is likely that Chris Hemsworth will continue to be featured in this series of works.
