Netflix Announces A New LEGO Game With Some Other Titles

This Tuesday, Netflix announced two new mobile games to launch on the platform in a couple of months. One of which is a strategy battle game called LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed and the other is Paper Trail, a new puzzle adventure game.

LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed was originally developed by Gameloft in 2020 and Netflix saw the title as perfect edition to their library. In the LEGO game, players collected classic and modern LEGO figures and build sets while traversing massive landscapes. Players explored different types of worlds associated with the LEGO brand like “Ghostbusters” while getting acquainted with some brand specific characters like the Hot Dog Man. In addition, players engaged in turn-based combat with the LEGO characters to obtain quest items among other rewards. LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed will be exclusive to Netflix subscribers once it launches on the streaming app in the upcoming months. Gameloft notified players that LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed would be removed available from Google Play, App Store, Microsoft Store, Samsung Galaxy Store and Amazon Appstore back in February 28th of this year. Then, the game completely shut down its servers on the 28th of April. It is currently available to play on the Facebook gaming platform, but is expected to be removed by the end of 2023.

Paper Trail takes place in a world made of paper where the player folds folds and merges paths in order to solve puzzles. Players play as Paige who leaves her home for the first time in order to go on a journey. As the player continues to solve puzzles, they will progress further in the game and uncover more of the game’s narrative. Paper Trail does not have an official release date yet, but it is expected to be another Netflix mobile exclusive. However, the game is also set to launch sometime in August for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, personal computer, and Xbox.

Netflix accompanied the announcement of these games with two other titles expected to be released this year as well. One of these games would be a new edition into the Cut the Rope series, Cut the Rope Daily to come August first. Cut the Rope was a hugely popular game back in 2010 when it first released and has over 1.6 billion downloads since then. The concept of the puzzle game will be a return to form as it circles around feeding the round and green, Om Nom, candy by cutting strands of rope. However, instead of making creating all of the puzzles cumulatively upon release, new levels will be added to the mobile game everyday.

The Queen’s Gambit: Chess was also revealed to be another title that should launch on the Netflix platform July 25th. Tied to Netflix’s hit series, “The Queen’s Gambit”, The Queen’s Gambit: Chess stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harmon who is a talented chess player that aims to become the best chess player in the world. This game will give many fans the chance to play as Beth as she challenges opponents and solves puzzles to reach her ultimate goal. The game will feature locations from the show along with many recognizable characters as well.

Lastly, Netflix is set to launch Oxenfree II: Lost Signals on twelfth of July. It is an adventure that takes place five years after the initial storyline of the first Oxenfree game: group of friends accidentally disturb a dimensional rift they found inside a mysterious, haunted cave. The first title was already added to the Netflix library back when the streaming services acquired Night School Studios, the developers of the game, and this sequel will be added their too. In fact, it will be the first new title to be released from one of Netflix’s internal studios. Oxenfree II: Lost Signals will feature many new personalities along with some old ones in this new supernatural thriller as players will operate as an environmental researcher named Riley Poverly that investigates all of the otherworldly occurrences in her hometown that the game takes place in. Along with being a Netflix mobile exclusive, it will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
