Nintendo has stated in a press release that their popular but hard to find mini NES console will be returning to retailers next summer. Nintendo intentionally planned to release the console shipments in limited supply at first, but the continued high demand for the system has prompted them to change their mind and give the fans what they’ve been asking for. So they have officially announced that they are going to release more Super NES Classic Edition consoles than they had previously planned for.
In the release Nintendo stated “Fans have shown their unbridled enthusiasm for these Classic Edition systems, so Nintendo is working to put many more of them on store shelves.”Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime stated in an recent interview that the Super NES Classic Edition will be more readily available than its 8-bit predecessor. He also urged fans not to overbid on the Super NES Classic on any auction sites, and added that Nintendo had “dramatically increased” production of the SNES Classic.
The company has assured it’s fans during the announcement of the retro console that they intend to make “significantly more” than they did during the NES Classic Edition’s lifespan. This is good news to many consumers who had their preorder for the system canceled due to the limited supply last month. The NES Classic Edition was initially released in November of 2016. It included 30 classic games and was priced for $59.99. The Super NES Classic Edition will launch Sept. 29 for $79.99. The system will have 21 games including Super Mario World, Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Star Fox 2.
