NBA Playgrounds Releases Next Month

Fans of the old school NBA games, like the ones in the arcades of the fan favorite NBA Street series are only a couple weeks away from the release of NBA Playgrounds to modern consoles. The game is like a combination of all time favorites like the aforementioned NBA Street and NBA Jam. It involves players both young and old; the trailer shows Allen Iverson facing off against the likes of Stephen Curry and Paul George. The trailer can be seen below.

The trailer also features players like Shaquille O’Neal, and MVP candidates Russell Westbrook and James Harden of the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets respectively. The trailer starts with Iverson jumps into the air for monstrous dunk, one that is not possible in everyday life, much to the likeness of NBA Street. The rest of the players in the trailer are also dunking the ball from unimaginable heights, so taking shots from the 3-point line should be unheard of.

All 30 NBA teams are in NBA Playgrounds and their respective rosters of new and old players can be leveled up. Sticking with its roots, the dunks and moves promise to be over-the-top.

There are multiple ways of playing the game. You can do solo campaign, you can play with your friends in the local multiplayer or you can take yours talents online with the “against the world” mode.

Developer Sabor Interactive CEO Matt Karch says that NBA Playgrounds will be accessible enough so that anyone can play but the game still has the depth for “hardcore pros who’ve master their game.”

Easily accessible isn’t an exaggerationNBA Playgrounds will soon become available for digital download on the PS4, Xbox One and PC for only $20. It will also be available on the newest console system, the Nintendo Switch. An exact release date is currently unknown other than the fact that it will be released next month.

Bryan Ingram: My name is Bryan. I just graduated from High Point University with a degree in Journalism. I'm 25 and writing has always been a part of my life. I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
