According to the NBA 2K website, NBA 2K22 announced multiple updates to player rating based on recent games. These updates come just one month before the NBA reaches the halfway point of the season and the all-star weekend. In addition, these updates are the sixth to be released since the game came out on September 10, 2021.
One of the most notable updates for a player comes to Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers. Prior to this update, he was rated as a 95 overall in the game. Embiid has been averaging a stellar 29 points to go along with almost 11 rebounds per game for the entire season. Over his last ten games, however, Embiid has posted averages of 35.2 points per game and 11 rebounds that have contributed to his increased rating. The one-point bump that he received ties him for the highest overall by any center and creates a five-way tie for the second-highest overall in the entire game.
In addition to the bump received by Joel Embiid, several other notable players received increases to their overall ratings as well. Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks received a one-point increase as well. This increase puts him at a 94 overall and comes after a ten-game stretch in which he has averaged 27.1 points, 11 rebounds and 7.9 assists. The jump up to a 94 overall created a tie between Doncic and Jimmy Butler for the eighth highest rating in the game.
Additional big names who received changes in their ratings include James Harden, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Klay Thompson. Harden received a one-point increase that puts him as a 91 overall and the highest-rated shooting guard in the entire game. Gilgeous-Alexander has become the face of the Oklahoma City Thunder and received a one-point bump as well that results in an 87 overall rating. Finally, the last big name to receive an updated rating was Klay Thompson. The Golden State shooting guard actually dropped by a point and fell down to a rating of 86.
These ratings are just a few of the many rating updates that players received across the league. Every single NBA team had players that received adjustments to their overall ratings based on their most recent play. The list of updated ratings can be seen on the NBA 2K website where they specify every player who was adjusted.
