Leading up to the NBA’s All-Star weekend, NBA 2K22 has announced the addition of some new cards to the game. NBA 2k22 is adding celebrity cards as a promotion for the celebrity All-Star game. Quavo and The Game are the first two hip-hop artists who will be playable in the franchise for almost ten years. The game is also adding a card for their Director of Digital Marketing, Ronnie Singh. Quavo is coming into the game as an 89 overall point guard while The Game is starting at an 89 overall but will be listed mainly as a shooting guard. Additionally, Ronnie 2K will come in as an 88 overall power forward.
The three players will be available to use in the MyTeam portion of the game. MyTeam is a game mode that allows players to build their teams full of NBA legends and now hip-hop celebrities as well. Players must complete the Triple Threat Challenges for each of the celebrities in order to unlock their cards. After completing the challenges, players will unlock the cards that are usable for any single player game mode. Although these may sound like difficult challenges, it should not be too challenging as all of the challenges for the game mode are set to the rookie difficulty.
NBA 2K22 has not currently announced any plans to include more celebrities in their game modes. Despite this, many fans are optimistic that the game could gain some new additions in the coming days. Adding three cards all at once makes fans hopeful that there could be another big release with multiple celebrities included. In addition, the celebrity All-Star game is coming soon on February 18 and fans are hoping for more additions as the game gets closer.
NBA 2K22 has also announced that the game will become free-to-play during the All-Star weekend. This is big news for fans of the game since it has never been released as a free-to-play game and this change will likely not occur again for a long time.
