When Naughty Dog announced yet another edition of one of the most critically acclaimed titles of all time, The Last of Us, it was received as a bit of a mixed bag. The third iteration of the same game, as well as the $70 price tag didn’t completely resonate with the fans. With less than a week to go until The Last of Us Part 1 releases worldwide, Naughty Dog has decided to give us a friendly reminder why this title had such an impact to begin with. This came in the form of an uncut 7-minute gameplay video, and from this video alone it’s safe to say that the return trip will be more than likely be worth it.

As we mentioned the video shows the game in real-time, specifically taking place in Bill’s Town, which is near the beginning section of The Last of Us. At seven minutes and fourteen seconds long, this is easily the longest, uncut, and unedited gameplay showcase that we’ve seen for the remake. We see Joel, the main protagonist, roam around with Elle and Bill in order to search for a way to out the town, all while avoiding infected and gathering tools for survival.
It’s not made clear if the title is being played on either a PlayStation 5 or a PC, as the framerate, visuals, and the overall presentation is stunning to say the least. If you’ve played either the original 2013 title, or the 2014 remaster, you’re more than likely familiar with this entire playthrough. Everything in the video leads to the group heading into the school and taking on the Bloater Clicker in the gym. The video’s main purpose is to give us a glimpse of how the power of the PlayStation 5, along with all of the enhancements from the remake, utilize the title to its fullest potential. If this gameplay video is any indication, we’re more than looking forward to another playthrough.
The Last of Us Part 1 will officially launch worldwide this Friday, September 2, for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
