Just yesterday, a trailer was released for a new game based on the popular Netflix series Narcos. Narcos: Rise of the Cartels will focus on the events from the first season of the Narcos tv-series and will have a digital release some time in late 2019 and a physical release sometime in Q4. Narcos: Rise of the Cartels will be a turn based strategy game that follows the events of Pablo Escobar and his rise to power within Columbia. The game is being developed by Kuju and is being published by Curve Digital.
The game will have two different campaigns that players can join. The first campaign has the player side with Pablo Escobar, while the second campaign has players siding with the DEA. The game will feature several characters with each character having their own unique abilities and benefits. According to Gamespot, the game will feature Peña, El Mexicano, Primo, and several other characters from the television show. The gameplay features characters from each side moving at the same time and the camera will be able to switch between third person and top down, allowing players to experience the game from two different perspectives.
The trailer opens with Pablo Escobar stating, “In Columbia, we’re seen as the good guys … good guys who sometimes do bad things.” The trailer then goes on to focus on the brutal war against the DEA as well as showing off several locations within the game. The locations names are currenlty unknown but based on the design, one can conclude that players will be able to duke it out in the city as well as in the jungles of Columbia. The game will release sometime in late 2019, with a physical release coming sometime between October and December. The game will be availabe for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
