Ever have a floating, talking banana come up to you to tell you to gun some random guys into the ground? There was an old Adult Swim game, My Friend Pedro, where a floating, talking banana comes to the player and tells them to go on a killing rampage with two guns while doing a lot of cool stunts. This game has been around since roughly 2014 – 2015, and is considered to have one of the best slow-mo gun-fu stunts than most other games prior to it. And in 2016, there was the possibility of the game getting a sequel titled My Friend Pedro: Blood Bullets Bananas that would be coming out “soon”, and got a pretty neat gun mechanics trailer. Three years later, My Friend Pedro finally gets a ‘full throttle’ preview:
The Steam page for the updated version of the 2014 game describes this as a “violent ballet”. Which, given some of the spins and flips that the character does in his mass onslaught of bullets, makes a lot of sense for it to be called that. My Friend Pedro isn’t just all about a side-scrolling run-and-gun because the floating talking banana told you so. Well, it is, but there are a few more additions to the game. Being introduced this time around are some differently paced sections. While not shown in the preview, the game promises things such as high speed motorcycle chases or even going for a slower physics-based puzzles. Of all the things to be concerned about in a game where the character is spinning through the air in slow-mo while shooting people up, are physics puzzles, though they could prove to be quite fatal.
And to top it all off, through all the mayhem and madness and blood and bullets, there is a featured in-game gif maker so that slow-mo murder brigades can be captured and saved to be shared with friends.
While there is no final release date, My Friend Pedro will be out sometime in June 2019 for PC. As far as the game is concerned, whatever the Banana says must be done.
