E3 2019 has come and gone, and brought with it plenty of new news regarding the most anticipated games over the next year. From New IPs, highly anticipated sequels or remakes, and more, we had the opportunity to experience a plethora of different titles that were showcased throughout the event.
Now, we present to you our best games from E3 2019:
10. Psychonauts 2
Psychonauts 2 sees the return of Raz as he is now officially a Psychonaut. Much like the first game, the game is filled with surreal environments and great humor. Players will join Raz and a cast of returning characters as they go on a mind-hopping adventure and combat a new villain. Psychonauts 2 is scheduled for release sometime in 2020. 9. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
The highly anticipated remake of the 1993 Game Boy classic looks absolutely stunning with its new artistic design. Koholint Island is still shrouded in mystery and it’s up to the player to help Link find a way off the island. The inventory system has been updated to where players will spend less time moving and equipping items. There’s even a new place where players can create their own dungeons! This new version of the game is sure to apppeal to fans of the original and new fans alike. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is set to release on September 20, 2019. 8. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Respawn’s first foray into a galaxy far far away looks very promising. Players will join Cal Kestis, a Padawan survivor of Order 66, as he is on the run from the Empire and meets up with the Rebellion to fight back. Cal is joined along the way by some new and familiar faces including his droid BD-1, Saw Gerrera, returning from Rogue One, and his master Cere. Cal has all sorts of methods to maneuver around the environments including parkour, wall-running, and free-climbing. Players will have access to many of the iconic Force powers as well as being able to use Cal’s trusty lightsaber to mow down the Empire’s forces. 7. Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 is all about choices and consequences. Set 15 years after the first game, players join the infected survivor Aiden Caldwell as he tries to survive in this harsh world. Choices that players make will have consequences throughout the game, and can either help or hinder Aiden’s journey. Movement and combat feel fluid and precise, and Aiden is equipped with a grappling hook and paraglider to move around quickly, escape a hairy situation, or even help in combat. 6. Marvel’s Avengers
Marvel’s Avengers is the next big title from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix. Players will control many of the iconic Avengers including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, and Black Widow as they face a new powerful threat. New heroes are set to be introduced to the game post launch as well including Hank Pym. We described the game as a “hybridization of the best mechanics of God of War and the recent PS4 Marvel’s Spider-Man.” You will be able to play by yourself or join up with three other friends to play as your favorite Avengers and take on the bad guys. 5. Watch Dogs Legion
Though leaking mere days before E3, Watch Dogs Legion looks to be taking the franchise in a new direction. Set in a near future dystopian London. Players join the Hacktivist group known as DedSec, to fight back against the oppression. Unlike previous entries in the series, their is no main playable character. Players can literally play as anyone in the game. Each person has their own unique stats and abilities, and can be recruited to join your cause. If you want an entire squad full of grannies, you can recruit them! However, be warned, the game features Permadeath, so if your favorite character dies then they’re gone forever. 4. Borderlands 3
Featuring tons of loot and guns, Borderlands 3 looks to be as stylish as ever. The game introduces new Vault Hunters to play as and sees the return of fan favorite characters like Tiny Tina. Vault Hunters each have their own abilities to face any situation presented to players. Also, there are plenty of new enemies for players to fight and gain a plethora of loot from upon defeat. Gunplay feels great this time around and each gun feels different in their own right, even the gun with legs. Borderlands 3 is set to release on September 13, 2019. 3. Doom Eternal
Doom Eternal looks to be picking up right where 2016’s Doom left off. Full of high octane demon slaying action, we describe Doom Eternal as “a freight train of violence and shooting.” The gameplay is smooth and frantic with enemies constantly barraging the player, and only the Doom Slayer’s wide array of weaponry, including a shotgun with a grappling hook attached, is enough to send the demons back to Hell. Glory kills are back as players’ favorite way to dispatch demons and are as brutal as ever. Doom Eternal is set to release on November 22, 2019. You can check out our impressions of the game here.
2. Final Fantasy VII Remake
The highly anticipated remake everyone has been waiting for was shown off in glorious detail. The first part of this massive remake focuses on and expands the Midgar section of the game. While only a portion of the original game was setin Midgar, enough new content has been added to make it its own standalone game. Square Enix has also reinvented the combat of the game going from the classic ATB turn based battles to “a hybrid battle system that merges real-time action with strategic, command-based combat.” The first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to release on March 3, 2020. 1. Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated titles of this generation. A massive first person RPG set in CD Projekt Red’s fully realized world of the futuristic Night City. Players step into the role of V just another person trying to live their live in Night City. Players will get to customize V with a variety of different skill sets from hacking-focused to strength-focused. With these skill sets, players will be able to tackle any situation how they choose. You can even go without killing a single person in the game. The game even stars Keanu freaking Reeves! Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on April 16, 2020.
