MultiVersus To Officially Launch In May 2024

The highly anticipated free-to-play platform fighter has finally gotten a release date. After a lengthy open beta test and a teaser image on its X/Twitter account early this month, MultiVersus gave its first update in 2024 from the Player First CEO and game director Tony Hyunh. In the brief update, Hyunh revealed all the new changes made toward the game including its official release date. Players can expect to see new characters, stages, and gameplay features. That said, MultiVersus most interesting change is its switch to  Unreal Engine 5. Alongside a new engine, Hyunh revealed that Player First rebuilt MultiVersus to “support a new netcode.” Lastly, Hyunh revealed that a new PvE mode was being added to MultiVersus, and will give says players “unique rewards.” MultiVersus will release on May 28, 2024.

MultiVersus initially launched as an open beta in Summer 2022. Players could choose from a lineup of Warner Bros’ most iconic characters like Bugs Bunny, Batman, and Shaggy to battle it out no matter the platform. After a year Warner Bros took the game offline in June 2023 to rework it, with players only able to access its training room and local matches.

The announcement has fans excited for the new additions coming to its roster, and while Hyunh gave hints in the announcement, it’s unknown when those new characters will be revealed.

MultiVersus’s return comes at a turbulent time within Warner Bros, as the company transitions to focus on free-to-play and live-service games. With its return only months away players can expect more information on new characters and stages to come out soon. MultiVersus will release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Check out the game’s official website and social media like YouTube and X/Twitter for future updates.
