After its initial announcement in March, the open beta for MultiVerus has officially shut down, rendering it fully offline until its official release in early 2024. Those who downloaded the game before it was pulled from digital storefronts in April, will still have limited access to local matches, the game’s training room, and all characters and cosmetics. According to its FAQ, any progress and content players earned or purchased before the Open Beta on June 25 closed will carry over to MultiVersus’s launch next year.
Attention, MVPs: Reminder that on June 25 at 5pm PT, MultiVersus online features will be disabled as our Open Beta concludes.

Player First Games Co-Founder Tony Huynh talked about why they decided to close the beta. He said that the team had a “…clearer view” of what they needed to focus on thanks to player feedback, and in order to implement fixes and new content, the MultiVersus beta needed to close. While there weren’t any specifics as to what would be added, Huynh hinted at adding new characters, maps, game modes, an updated netcode and matchmaking improvements. Additionally, Huynh also noted possibly reworking the game’s progression system and new ways players to connect with friends in-game.
Players were met with a message from MultiVersus’s developers, according to Video Games Chronicle (VGC), thanking them for their support and feedback through its Open Beta.
“…On June 25, we’ll be closing the MultiVersus Open Beta as we prepare for our launch in early 2024,” the message said. “We plan to be back and better than ever with new content, features, modes and more when the game returns next year and will ensure that all of your progress and content will carry over. In the meantime, please stay tuned for updates as we work towards the next phase of MultiVersus.”
