If you were able to get into Overwatch 2, good for you! Unfortunately, a lot of other players were not and still have not been able to get into the game. Since the launch, multiple players have gone to social media to share their failed attempts at getting into the game, with queue lines of up to 40,000 and higher. Following the launch, Blizzard President Mike Ybarra shared that the servers are under mass DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack. Then, Overwatch 2 Director Aaron Keller revealed that a second DDoS Attack hit the game too.
Players on all platforms are encountering a number of different issues such as “unexpected server errors”, having to log in again, getting closer to the front of the queue line then jumping further back unexpectedly, and more. Players have also been disconnected from servers. Furthermore, there have also been issues regarding cosmetics not getting transferred into their collections following merging accounts.
Aaron Keller said that “We’re steadily making progress on server issues and stability, as well as working through a second DDoS attack. We’re all hands on deck and will continue to work throughout the night. Thank you for your patience – we’ll share more info as it becomes available.”
Blizzard has not given timetable for when the Overwatch 2 servers will be back to normal functionality. Players may still have issues trying to log in in the short term.
