Motion Twin announced a new DLC coming to the rogue-like and Metroidvania mashup game Dead Cells. The DLC is slotted for a release in the first financial quarter of 2020. The DLC is called Bad Seed and offers new early game content and three new biomes called: The Arboretum, The Swamp, and, The Heart of the Swamp.
The Arboretum is a greenhouse biome settled by sentient mushrooms and fungi for the player to pitch themselves against. The Swamp is a little more self-explanatory and will feature mutant trees, frogmen and various insects to contest with. The final place; The Heart of The Swamp is described as “Domain of mama tick, if you’ve seen Starship Troopers, you get the idea….” These levels offer an alternative to The Toxic Sewers and The Ramparts in an early game playthrough. The end boss is intended to be on the same level as the Concierge. Bad Seed does offer new weapons and items along with the new biomes.
The trailer is too short to extract much useful information out of, but it does show the various enemies we are to expect, such as the giant ticks. Though without a solid release date, Motion Twin did announce they plan on two more years of making new content and the DLC will help fund those projects. According to Motion Twin, Bad Seed will be selling for $5 for both consoles and pc.
Bad Seed will be the second expansion for Dead Cells. The other one is Rise of the Giant which is currently listed as free expansion for all players. For anyone that really wants to Support Motion Twin and Dead Cells, the soundtrack is also available on Steam, which is going for $5 as well. Dead Cells itself is listed at $25 and is available to Xbox game pass subscribers.
Dead Cells is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, IOS, and Andriod.
