Players interested in exploring a living storybook world as a tiny courageous mouse don’t want to miss out on Moss: The Forgotten Relic. A 3D puzzle platformer part of Polyarc‘s award-winning Moss series. Polyarc is a development team based in Seattle, who have a love for thoughtful design and captivating worlds that stay with players even after the adventure is over.
Moss: The Forgotten Relic embodies their mission as the game centers around Quill, a little mouse guided by a spirit companion to help guide and protect them through their journey. This spirit is none other than the players themselves! Together players will embark on an adventure into a forgotten world, a mythic land where nature overtakes ruins from an ancient kingdom.
A Gameplay Trailer was released last month showcasing Quill in various ruins ranging from lush forests, forges, to snowy biomes. It also highlights the enemies players will face, especially larger bosses such as an armored owl that breaks through a mosaic window and a lava monster wielding a molten hammer.
The game is an atmospheric adventure with an orchestral soundtrack created by Jason Graves, which adds to the overall etherealness of the world. It is filled with myth and environmental puzzles as shown in the trailer. Moss: The Forgotten Relic is a reimagining of the prior games in the series: Moss and Moss II. It combines both into a singular adventure for its PC debut. One key feature of the game is that players who don’t wish to face arcane threats have the option to skip combat, allowing for an experience focused on the puzzles rather than the battles.
On July 2nd, Polyarc announced that the game reached 100,000 wishlists on Steam and that the demo will remain on Steam until the launch date. Moss: The Forgotten Relic releases this Thursday, July 16, and will be available for $19.99. Console players will also have access to the game for the Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation, and Xbox.
