2019 is set to be a big year for indie games. One of these upcoming titles, Mosaic, is being developed by Krillbite Studio and Raw Fury, the makers of games like Among the Sleep and The Plan. Mosaic seems to have a similar art style and will be providing players with an intense, deep, and modern storyline that will force the protagonist to break away from a consistent life.
Krillbite has kept an influx of details from being released about Mosaic, but they have at least laid out the themes of what the game will have in store for us on the Steam page. The main character in Mosaic lives a “monotonous life in a cold city” where individualism is absent and people go about their days will little to no meaning. That is, until something happens one day. Strange events begin to occur that will take players through a dramatic and dark adventure. Check out some of the first footage:
The game was first announced late last year with the above trailer that previews graphics and what types of emotions that players may encounter. At its start, the trailer drags the audience through a mundane and realistic view of what unhappiness and a lack of individualism looks like. Then a dramatic shift in tone takes the protagonist through thrilling sequences of abstract sizes mysterious technology, leading some to believe that the focus of the game will be on corporate manipulation, androids, or cloning. Reading the description and details of the trailer on YouTube enforces some of these theories with cryptic characters outlining some kind of “boot sequence.” Even more odd is after some kind of “initialization” is successful in the video’s description, it continues by repeated four phrases: “You are a cog in the machine,” Everything in its right place,” “Individualism is ineffective,” and “This is your number.”
Mosaic has no specific release date, but the developers are planning for its launch sometime this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac system.
