Mortal Shell II Official Announcement Trailer Shown During Summer Game Fest 2025

The Summer Game Fest has just begun, and the first trailer that they previewed during the livestream was an official announcement trailer for upcoming game Mortal Shell II, the sequel action-RPG game to Mortal Shell. Both the first game with the upcoming sequel was created by Cold Symmetry, an independent studio with 30 creators who are working on the game. The game is planned to release in 2026 on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Players can wishlist the game now as well as sign up to participate in the beta on their official website.

The trailer shows off the dark, foggy landscapes and some grotesque characters and monsters.  Along with that, the announcement trailer features gameplay footage of the main protagonist the player will be playing as knock out different enemies with either a variety of different weapons, or using the monster’s own body too. The weapons that were shown in the trailer were a sword, a large spear, as well as different kinds of guns with their own unique abilities.

Mortal Shell II is a standalone game to the first game, meaning that players can jump right into playing Mortal Shell II without playing the first game. The game is set to follow up on the first game’s dark fantasy world, and this sequel focuses more on the combat system which is now unrestricted by stamina, weapon customization, and more focus on the open world experience for the players.

Players will be able to create different combat techniques and perform different strikes against the enemies, and collect Shells which grants new abilities to add more to the combat system. By exploring the various landscapes, players will be able to collect more Shells and unlock different weapons, upgrades, and story elements as well.
