NetherRealm Studios announced on Twitter that Mortal Kombat 11 will support Kross Generation play. This means all console players will be able to fight against each other once the game’s next-generation update hits. No matter a player’s preferred experience, the developer is introducing Kross play and Kross generation play for its users. This means whether you own the game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X/S, you will be able to play with anyone on any of these systems. According to GameSpot, “Kasual matches and “designated online rooms” will allow for total cross-console, cross-generation fights.” You can see the full Tweet below:
The news comes after the addition of the Kombat Pack 2, which includes fighters Rain, Mileena, and guest character Rambo. NetherRealm Studios also released a new gameplay trailer for fan-favorite fighter Mileena. The trailer shows off new brutal abilities as well as Mileena’s history in Mortal Kombat 11’s timeline. Mileena originates from one of Shang Tsung’s cloning experiments. She was killed by D’Vorah and Kotal Kahn in Mortal Kombat X. The new gameplay trailer shows new krushing and fatal blows for the fighter. Mileena’s fatal blow shows the fighter ripping out her opponent’s (Kitana) neck with her teeth, throwing two sai at the back of Kitana’s head so hard they come out of her eyes, then finished with another neck slash with her hands. According to EuroGamer, Mileena’s Fatal Blow is “just about the goriest in the game.” Here’s the Mileena gameplay trailer:
Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Stadia, and Switch. Mortal Kombat 11, along with Mortal Kombat Ultimate Edition will be available digitally for next-gen consoles on November 17. The Kombat Pack 2 will allow players who own the game on a system within the same console will be able to upgrade for free. Kross Generation play will not be available on PC or Nintendo Switch.
