NetherRealm Studios joined in on the fun at The Game Awards and made their own special reveal. The latest DLC fighter, The Joker, will finally be making his way into Mortal Kombat 11. Along with the unveil of a brief but brand new trailer, we also learned that he’ll be joining the kast very soon, next month on January 28, 2020. The developer also revealed that the game is currently being tested for cross-play between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, joining other titles that support the growing feature.

While we didn’t get a full gameplay trailer, this is still the first time we’ve seen the Joker since he was initially revealed last Summer as part of the remaining Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 11. His moveset is still a bit of a mystery, but it’s also important to note that this isn’t Joker’s first foray into the Mortal Kombat universe. He was part of an all star cast in the 2008 fighting game Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe, a game that for the most part was well received as a competent fighting game. However, it was toned back quite a bit on the heavy gore, blood, and violence that Mortal Kombat is known for, and as a result, alienated the fans.
This time, the Joker will be able to go all out and fulfill his hilarious, and brutal, desires that is sure keep any Mortal Kombat fan satiated. He’s due to release in just a little over a month, so hopefully we get to see more of him before that. We’ve also seen two additional fighters join the roster in the past couple of months such as The Terminator, based off of Arnold Schwarzenegger likeness, and the screaming queen herself Sindel. Needless to say, the kombat kast has been filling out nicely, so lets hope that Ed Boon and company have more characters in mind for us to horribly dismember and destroy.
The Joker releases for Mortal Kombat 11 on Janurary 28, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the FAQ on the cross-play here. You can also check out the release date trailer here:
