Yesterday, developers from Pixel Reign and publisher Super Rare Originals have released an announcement for their upcoming game Moros Protocol. The game is set to release this year, but there has not been a set release date as of yet. Moros Protocol will be released on PC through Steam, it has not been announced if it will be releasing on consoles.
Moros Protocol is a pixelated single-player science fiction FPS game where the player is stranded on a decaying warship, otherwise known as The Orpheus. The warship is guarded by entities that players will have to fight as well as a voice that will guide the player along their journey through the warship.
While combating against enemies, players will be able to shape and customize their loadout to find their fighting style, along with physically kicking the enemies as well. There will be a variety of new places to explore within the warship as well as new layouts, according to the description of the Steam page, it says that “no two runs will feel the same.” Not only is the game a single-player game, players will be able to team up with a friend to fight along against.
According to the Steam page, this is what it has to say about Moros Protocol and the game design, “Set in a haunting, low-poly world with crunchy pixel textures, Moros Protocol blends fast-paced combat of classic ’90s and early 2000s FPS games, the unpredictability of genre-defining roguelites, and the challenge of Souls-like boss fights. Battle relentless enemies and towering nightmares in a brutal test of skill and willpower. With procedurally generated levels, evolving threats, and intense action, survival is never guaranteed.”
Along with that, there is also a personal message from the developers, “Moros Protocol has been a passion project that started back in 2010 as a concept, which we have been working on for the last 5 years to bring it to life. We are really excited to finally be able to share our vision with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we’ve enjoyed making it.”
