Rumors of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 being confirmed started last month and, now more of these accusations are rearing back up. Recently, there were reports of leaked Gamestop listing which contained merchandise for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. And now to add to this bit of evidence, reports from gaming news site Kotaku, stated that the game is confirmed and will be released sometime this year.
Although Activision has not officially announced this year’s entry into the series, Treyarch, the creator of Black Ops is confirmed to be the developer of this year’s installment. Treyarch’s Black Ops 3 which was released back in 2015 still has a strong player base and is even still receiving post launch content.
However, another lead that seems to point in the direction of a new Black Ops is that NBA superstar James Harden was shown via a Twitter post arriving just before a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder wearing a very interesting hat along with full camo attire. The cap seemed to be sporting a logo that looks a lot like the Black Ops 3 logo but with an additional “I”.
A source also told Kotaku that the logo on Harden’s hat was indeed the official logo for Black Ops 4, so it looks like they won’t be going with the traditional Roman numeral for 4 which is “IV”. Activision usually announces new Call of Duty titles around April or May so its a bit early for them to reveal anything yet. Fans will just have to stay tuned to see just what the publisher does now that they have our attention.
UPDATE: Activision confirms that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will be 2018’s Call of Duty title. A teaser trailer was released displaying an October 12, release date for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
