Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is set to release tomorrow on July 23rd, 2026. The game will allow players to choose from 12 different characters from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, with more coming after the game’s initial release. But earlier today, IGN uploaded a trailer for the game on Youtube, which showcases some of the game modes and features that players will be able to use when the game drops.
The trailer features a quick showcase of the 12 playable characters, before it actually gets into the different modes and features. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will have a story mode, an arcade mode, a training mode which allows players to view hitboxes, and a mode that they’re calling “combo trials”. Combo trials seem to allow players to receive guided practice for combos on character of their choice. The trailer also put a lot of emphasis on the online play of the game, featuring both casual and ranked matchmaking. The game will also be crossplay with rollback netcode, so matches should feel lag-free and smooth, even between platforms.
It seems there will be quite a lot for players to do once Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game drops. While the trailer places a big focus on the online play, going as far as to mention that crossplay will feature rollback netcode, the game will still feature a story mode and an arcade mode. These are both staples of the fighting game genre, which allows for the classic couch co-op that the genre is known for. While nothing is set in stone, fans of both the Avatar series and the fighting game genre as a whole should definitely keep an eye on this game. It looks to feature the best of both worlds when it comes to local and online play, but any praise or criticism from players won’t be heard until tomorrow’s release.
