Publisher Bandai Namco made a big reveal at GDC announcing a brand new Dragon Ball Z game for mobile titled Dragon Ball Legends earlier this week. It seems Bandai Namco wants to build off the success of the console game Dragon Ball FighterZ, but it is an interesting choice that the next step they’re taking within the franchise is to bring a title to the mobile platform.
The game is said to have global PvP, which will allow players from different parts of the world to challenge one another in one-on-one battles. During a live stream, seven characters were shown: Goku, Piccolo, Nappa, Frieza, Pan, and Vegeta were confirmed for the game. The full roster is not yet announced but Bandai Namco stated that they will be adding “every character available in the world of Dragon Ball.”
But if that wasn’t enough to excite fans, it was also announced that Dragon Ball Legends will be getting an all new original character that will be designed and drawn by none other than Dragon Ball creator himself Akira Toryiyama. Not much is currently known about this character except the fact that he is in fact a Saiyan “from a time that is not from Goku’s” and he will have a unique story of his own. Those who wish to take part in the beta for the game can pre-register on either their iOS or Android device. Dragon Ball Legends is slated to release on sometime this Summer.
