In order to celebrate baseball legend Jackie Robinson, MLB The Show 22 has announced that they are offering a special $5 DLC package. All of the proceeds from the package will be donated directly to the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Excluding platform fees that will be charged, it will result in at least $3.49 for every purchase made.
Sony is introducing the pack to players as a way of celebrating the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball on April 15, 1947. TheShow.com posted on their blog and said “Jackie Robinson was the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball during the modern era. A true trailblazer in many areas including sports, media, and the civil rights movement. Jackie stood for: class, the love of the game and of course, equality. He was a powerful force of positive change, that changed the landscape of sports and the world today.”
The package is already available for purchase in the game and will be available for purchase until April 29. The DLC pack includes 5,000 stubs, a Jackie Robinson Foundation skin, a 42 profile icon, and a 75th anniversary icon. Although the DLC pack is only available for purchase in the United States, it will surely generate a lot of donations for the foundation. The pack will be included in the game in addition to the Jackie Robinson Day Program.
The Jackie Robinson Day Program is available for anyone who owns MLB The Show 22 and has an internet connection. By playing this mode, players will be able to earn a Diamond Legend player item for the Diamond Dynasty Squad. Additionally, players can earn items for their created ballplayer, including a #42 bat skin, socks, and a special bat grip.
MLB The Show 22 is continuing the tradition of honoring Jackie Robinson throughout April by including the different modes and packs to commemorate the historic player.
