With baseball season right around the corner it’s once again time for the most popular baseball game to hype fans up for their own seasons. MLB The Show 19 is getting ready for launch late next month with a newly released trailer detailing some of the newest features coming to the series that will set it apart from the previous year’s title. The developers at SIE San Diego Studio have partnered back up with Sony to bring a more competitive edge to this year’s installment that will focus on personal rivalries between not just players, but the athletes that they take will take control of on the field. Check out the trailer below:
Some of the newest features will come in the simplest form, such as more and unique dialogue and interactions between players and coaches on and off the diamond. When creating a character in The Show’s career type mode, players will be able to choose from a greater variety of personality functions and can achieve challenges to increase character attributes, which provides what the developers are calling “a full RPG experience.” One of the biggest additions this year is the separate mini games that will be introduced. This will range from one versus one non-traditional battles between a hitter and pitcher to see who comes out on top that is comparable to a homerun derby, to playing as baseball Hall of Fame legends. There will also be quick experiences that will be brief, playable baseball instances that put players in the middle of a nail-biting situation.
On March 26 MLB The Show 19 will only be released on the PlayStation 4. For those that pre-order any edition of the game, they will receive in game “packs;” they will acquire ten standard packs and one gold player choice pack, which may be some kind of collection or loot box system implemented into the game.
