Annapurna Interactive and award-winning Australian studio Beethoven & Dinosaur have announced that the critically acclaimed narrative-adventure game, Mixtape, is now available on Mac via the Mac App Store and Steam for $19.99. The game is also set to come to Amazon Luna next week on November 5. In addition, Beethoven & Dinosaur have also released Van Slater’s album, The Dark Castle. It is available to listen to in-game for those who already own Mixtape and is available on streaming platforms.

The Dark Castle features new, original music and is a concept album about a wizard from the mind of Van Slater, one of protagonist Stacey Rockford’s best friends. The album is framed from Slater’s point of view and features five tracks that unfold like a D&D campaign.

Mixtape follows three high school friends on their last night of adventure. En route to their final party together, a perfectly curated playlist draws the trio into dreamlike reenactments of their formative memories. Experience a variety of narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped them. It’s the greatest hits of the teenage wasteland, from the first kiss to the last dance.

Alongside the original music from The Dark Castle, Mixtape’s soundtrack features music from a variety of iconic artists like DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and The Cure.

Earlier this month, Mixtape won three awards at the Australian Game Developer Awards: Excellence in Sound Design, Excellence in Visual Art, and Game of the Year. Judges declared the game “a trimph in virtual storytelling, pairing a distinct visual identity with heartfelt music to deliver one of the most memorable experiences in recent memory.”

The game is also nominated for the Best Soundtrack and Best Indie Game categories at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards.
