It was a sad day when the game company Telltale had closed its doors for good. That was nearly half a year ago. Titles like Telltale’s The Walking Dead, Batman, Game of Thrones and even going as far as The Wolf Among Us would end for good, whether or not the series were complete. Companies like Skybound had taken on the challenge of finishing up The Walking Dead series, but others would still remain open-ended. Though, there was one that tried to keep itself afloat through all this time: the Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series.
Most of the previous Telltale titles had been delisted from Steam back when the company closed in November. However, due to Minecraft not being on Steam, it wasn’t as easily taken down. Six months later, and Microsoft put forth a blog post that discusses what the outcome of the Telltale story mode and the game.
For what’s happening, both Season 1 and Season 2 of story mode will no longer be available to download after June 25, even if you already own them. So if they aren’t downloaded by then, players won’t be able to download them after. This is because Microsoft will no longer be able to support Story Mode due to Telltale being out of business for so long. Here’s the official statement that they put out in the blog post:
“On behalf of the publisher, Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series, Season 1 and 2 will no longer be supported on June 25th, 2019. If you have purchased these seasons, please download all remaining episodes prior to the service being discontinued in June.”
This update will be affected across all platforms, PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. And Microsoft highly advises that Story Mode be downloaded before June 25, as it will no longer be available after those dates.
