Mojang today announced Minecraft Dungeons’ second seasonal update; Luminous Night. This will be released on April 20th, about 4 months following Cloudy Climb, the first season that was introduced to the game. Unlike the additional DLC packs, seasonal adventures are free to play with the exception of purchasing premium content passes.
In accordance with the all-new Luminous Night theme, players can anticipate new rewards that light up the night, and new pets such as the ministrosity and abomination. Most importantly, new quality of life features have been added such as a confirmed storage chest.
Cloudy Climb will still be accessible. With the addition of seasons, this one introduced a tower to the camp, free content reward track and a premium adventure pass that is $3.99 USD. This pass includes exclusive skins, capes, emotes, pets and more. Luminous Night will feature a darker map will luminescent features. Players will be able to explore the tower by night, traversing new, fresh floors that show off mysterious murals and perplexing puzzles to a new fiery foe known as wildfire.
Dungeons is an action-adventure RPG that brings the traditionally sandbox world of Minecraft into a dungeon crawler. Dungeons supports up to 4 players (cross-platform multiplayer supported) and features new weapons, items, mobs and an assortment of fresh environments. Instead of building or mining, players will complete specific quests along with procedurally generated elements as they take on clusters of foes along the way. The goal is to eventually defeat the main antagonist known as the Arch-Illager in what is known as the “Orb of Dominance” storyline.
Seasonal Adventures was an addition to the linear storyline of the Orb of Dominance, giving players a new way to increase in rank, gather points, earn cool rewards and overall experience new and replayable adventures. Players may start with a blank avatar in the seasonal adventure part of the game, but their gear and weapons will level up as they progress.
Dungeons is available for play on all systems including PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Luminous Night will arrive on April 20th, but Dungeons is available for purchase now.
