Minecraft Beta Update 1.13.0.15 Adds Character Creator

A recent update to Minecraft‘s beta program adds yet another splash of creativity to a game already built to support the imagination of its users. A Character Creator has finally been added to the game, putting an end to the difficult choice of choosing the perfect skin, then adding in over 100 choices to decide between for your unique player-character. The update, which is live in the game’s beta program now for Xbox One, Windows 10, and Android only, will be tested and eventually rolled out to the live servers and other consoles.

The Character Creator, according to the most recent update, will allow players to customize their “avatar in a number of ways, including body size and shape, limb replacement and tweaking of eyes, mouth, hairstyles and colours, facial hair and skin tones.” Over 100 items have been made available for free to kick off the feature, with even more available for purchase. Custom character skins created before the new Creator can still be imported through the Edit Character menu.

Players who wish to try out the new Character Creator must first opt-in to the beta program, which is only available on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Android. Interested players can follow the opt-in steps for their preferred system found in the information page on the Minecraft beta website. Keep in mind that opting-in to the beta will close player’s access to Realms while active, as well as open up the possibility of bugs, just like any other beta. Mojang recommends players back up their Worlds before entering the beta, just in case.

For those players using systems outside of the three listed and want to use the new creator, there may be a bit of a wait. “The Character Creator is currently available to beta testers, but will also roll out to Minecraft Earth, as well as all other Bedrock platforms like iOS and Nintendo Switch, once the beta has concluded,” reads the update page. No timetable has been given as to when that will be, however.
