Minecraft has released its latest snapshot, as of June 23rd, 2026. A post revealing details on the snapshot listed some of the new content for players to test, explore, and experience before the next major update releases. As of now, players have full access to this snapshot on Java Edition, and can try out the newly opened content for themselves, as well as give any feedback to the developers.
One of the new features that have been added to the 26.3 Snapshot is a new biome: the Dappled Forest Biome. This biome is home to Poplar trees that are adorned with red, orange, or yellow leaves. These Poplar trees, when cut down, also provide an entirely new shade of wood for players to build and decorate with, the wood itself being gray in color.
Abandoned Camps are another new feature, a newly generated structure that can be found in twenty of Minecraft‘s biomes, the newest Dappled Forest included among that number. With these abandoned camps comes the introduction of wool stairs and wool slabs. The snapshot itself includes wool stairs and slabs of every color available in the game, something that avid builders will likely be happy to use.
Some other decorative blocks have been added into the snapshot as well, including the new Shelf Mushroom and Red Shrub. However, this snapshot doesn’t just include new content for players, as some changes and bug fixes have been added into the snapshot. There are quite a lot of changes to commands as a whole, so players who enjoy working with red stone and command blocks are to be sure to keep an eye on those.
Minecraft‘s newest snapshot has added quite a good bit of content for players who are excited to see a hint of the game’s next upcoming update. Players who enjoy building have been given a sneak peek at the dozens of new blocks to work with, and explorers will definitely happen upon an Abandoned Camp or two in their travels. Many are wondering if any additional content will be revealed in any future snapshots for this update, or if it will primarily be more bug fixes and ironing out any creases in the code. In any case, the release of the latest Minecraft snapshot will definitely encourage players to test it out and give the feedback Mojang is looking for.
