In an official press release that went out today, as of March 17, 2026, Build a Rocket Boy and IO Interactive announced their partnership has come to a close, effective March 16, 2026, resulting in Build a Rocket Boy becoming solely responsible for the development and publishing of MindsEye. Although their partnership is coming to a close, IOI Partners and Build a Rocket Boy are coordinating closely to ensure a seamless transition over the coming weeks. Also, being involved in any essential transitional functions required to transfer publisher-of-record status to Build a Rocket Boy.
Back in June 2025, Build a Rocket Boy, the creators behind MindsEye and IO Interactive the ones responsible for the Hitman games, announced a crossover where a Hitman centric mission would take place in MindsEye do to their partnership is now cancelled in light of their partnership coming to a close. Both BARB and IOI Partners recognize that the crossover generated significant anticipation and excitement among the communities and express their appreciation for the support from their player bases.
In light of everything, Build a Rocket Boy plans on working with other partners in the future for other projects. And will continue to work on their main title game, MindsEye. As of last month, MindsEye had one of its biggest updates, achieving the studio’s vision and setting it up for future content. The update included many quality-of-life improvements, such as a smoother campaign flow, enhanced AI behavior, easier-to-follow objectives, and more. Also within the coming months, Build a Rocket Boy plans on outlining the future of the game, revealing a new expansion that adds on more end-game content and enhances the world of MindsEye, as well as announcing a multiplayer mode in MindsEye’s ARCADIA. So players can look forward to more content for the game, as the studio will continue to support it in the future.
