Mike Tyson Makes MMA Debut In UFC 2

The former “Baddest Man on the Planet” is set to make his octagon debut in EA Sports UFC 2. Mike Tyson was unveiled as the mystery fighter teased earlier this week. A video announcement was made via Twitter this morning.

Two versions of Mike Tyson will appear in UFC 2. ‘Iron Mike Tyson’ which is based on the golden age of his career in the 80’s and early 90’s; and ‘Legacy Mike Tyson’, modeled after his later years including his signature face tattoo.

Those who can’t wait to play as the legendary boxer will have to put in their pre-orders. Pre-ordering the standard edition will net players Day 1 access to ‘Iron Mike’ while pre-ordering the deluxe edition will grant Day 1 access to both character models. Mike Tyson can be also obtained by advancing to the Hall Of Fall in career mode for those willing to wait. As previously announced both UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten and “The Gracie Hunter” Kazushi Sakuraba will also come as a pre-order bonus.

“Obviously, we know that he was never a mixed martial artist, but it’s not a huge stretch to think that if MMA was as popular back when he was competing as it is today, you might have seen Tyson putting on 4oz gloves and stepping into the Octagon instead of the ring.” commented UFC 2 Creative Director, Brian Hayes. “It’s just one of those great ‘what ifs’ that we get to play around with when making a game like this.”

Bas Rutten also gave a few comments on how Mike Tyson would fare in the MMA world.

UFC 2 comes to Playstation 4 and Xbox One on March 15th.
