Following Shelter’s August release, Swedish indie studio Might and Delight has announced that Shelter 2 will be coming in Autumn 2014 on Steam, GOG and other digital platforms. In Shelter 2, you play as a lynx mom who hunts for food in an open world, to be able to protect her litter.
In the first game, Shelter, you played as badger mom protecting her cubs from danger. Where you experience the wild in a badger’s life, and go through a journey where you fight to not starve, and not become prey to the birds, and stay out of harm from the environments harm. There is also a separate mode called Nurture, which allows you to go back to the forest of Shelter every day and helps you get even closer to the badger’s cubs.
With Shelter 2, where you begin as a pregnant lynx in a wide open world, as she prepares for her litter to come in her den, which becomes like your home or safe haven during the whole gameplay. It will feature different types of movements, different jumps and different varieties of prey to kill. New mom features will also be included in this game, which lets you lift and carry your cubs, call them over and also tell them to drink at rivers. Another thing, that needs to be considered is also stamina, just like if you were an actual lynx in the wild. Lynx are a little higher in the food chain than the badger, which allows them to eat hares and small mammals.
“But we have decided to let the animal itself set the pace and character of the gameplay. The badger translated into a slow and linear journey – with the lynx however, Shelter 2 will become a much more forceful experience, where improving your techniques for hunting prey takes a much bigger role.”
The music is once again presented by Retro Family.
