It seems as though cloud gaming is the next big trend within the industry these days. With even Google announcing that they are jumping on the bandwagon with their new service Stadia, it’s interesting to know what’s going on with technology giant Microsoft’s streaming project.
We’ve known about Microsoft’s streaming service Project xCloud for quite some time. Microsoft initially revealed that they were working on a streaming service that had the ability to bring console quality gaming to a multitude of devices. The project was announced during fall of last year. Since then, we haven’t heard much more about the project since it was announced in terms of how it’s coming along or when it might become public. But now, we finally some insight about where the project is currently in its development period.
In a Twitter post, Xbox Boss Phil Spencer stated they recently completed the “takehome release” for Project xCloud. This means that the development team currently working on the streaming project are now able to test out the service at home instead of in their workspaces. This is a big development as the service is far along enough in development to be tested out of the studio.
In addition to this bit of news, Spencer also confirmed that Project xCloud is still on track to become available for public trials sometime later this year. There are also reports that Microsoft plans to show more off the service in a home setting during this E3 however nothing is exactly confirmed at this time, this recent news of the game’s current development state sure supports this report.
