Gamescom 2017 kicks off next month on Tuesday August 22, however Microsoft plans to broadcast a live show on Sunday August 20th at 12:00 p.m. PDT showcasing news and announcements on their new console the Xbox One X. Microsoft announced recently that they plan to focus on the new console as well as the 20th anniversary of the Age of Empires franchise. The event will be hosted by Graeme Boyd of Xbox U.K. and Maxi Graeff of Xbox Germany. Fans should expect interviews with developers, and also live demos with the hosts.
On August 21 Microsoft will hold another livestream around the same time to reveal information about the Age of Empire’s franchise. During this livestream Microsoft will showcase Age of Empires: The Definitive Edition, which the company confirmed to be the original Age of Empires that was released 20 years ago remastered. The game is being developed for Windows PC and will be displayed for the first time ever during the livestream.
There will also be other developers who have worked on the franchise present during the livestream. “We’ll be talking all things Age of Empires with some of the legendary developers who worked on the games as well as sharing some exciting news that fans will not want to miss.” Gamescom attendees will be able to play “a wide collection of the games coming to Xbox over the next 12 months,” on August 23 when the convention is fully open to the public. Fans of the Age of Empires series will be able to attend the live streamed event in person, but for regular Xbox fans Microsoft will be holding it’s FanFest event at Gamescom starting on August 22.
