Microsoft’s New Aqua Blue Special Edition Controller Releasing In August

Microsoft’s latest special-edition Xbox Series X|S controller, which goes by the name “Aqua Shift,” is coming out on August 31. The controller has a striking, shimmery aqua blue finish and is the first-ever special edition controller that contains rubberized side grips with a “unique dual swirl on every unit,” according to the company. The special edition Aqua Shift is available for pre-order in select Xbox markets worldwide and will retail for $69.99.

The controller’s aesthetics takes inspiration from “the fantasy that gaming brings into our lives,” according to Microsoft’s blog post–equipped with textured grips on triggers, bumpers, and back case, the Aqua Shift aims to ensure gamers stay connected to their game, no matter how intense it gets. Meaning players will now have a better hold on their controller compared to that of the standard Xbox Series X|S controllers. The Aqua Shift Special Edition will also have the next-gen “Share Button” that the newer controllers have. This button allows players to capture screenshots and screen records, to instantly document those epic gaming moments, wins, and battles.

The Aqua Shift Special Edition is the sixth newest Xbox Series X|S controller to launch this year. In July, Microsoft gave us three Space Jam-themed controllers to promote the launch of Space Jam: A New LegacyIn March, “Electric Volt” and “Daystrike Camo” color variants were given to players by the company. Now, a glistening, water-like controller, comes in at the end of the year to save gamers from accidentally throwing their controller out of their hands during an intense gameplay moment.

So whether you’re looking for a gift, looking to expand your wireless controller collection, or looking to enhance your gaming experience, the unique Aqua Shift may be what you’re looking for.
