Up until this point, Microsoft has been generally mute in regards to their original Xbox One content. Until now.
Much like Netflix, Microsoft had announced earlier that they are planning to generate original programming for their new console. These television shows would be available through the Xbox Live store, but there hasn’t been any specific information as to whether users will have to pay for this particular content.
So far Microsoft has only announced two shows that will premiere through the console. The first is a Halo show produced by Steven Spielberg, as well as a tie in show that will be unveiled simultaneously with the release of Quantum Break, an Xbox One exclusive being published by Microsoft Studios.
As far as future content goes, Microsoft announced today that not every show would be influenced by a video game in their library. They stated that it is possible that these games will be completely original and unrelated to a large game release. However, a representative went on to explain that each show would have “a certain level of interactivity.”
Nevertheless, Microsoft is currently toying with hundreds of ideas internally. How many of these see the light of day is completely up in the air, but the company is devoting a significant amount of time and effort in this realm with the hope that they can compete on a global level with companies like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
We’ll see how the company is forming their plans when the Xbox One is released across the world on November 22nd.
