There is now one less game lined up for Xbox this year as Microsoft just recently announced the push back of Quantum Break’s release date until sometime in 2016. Quantum Break developed by Remedy Entertainment is a third person shooter action game and was schedule for release later this year.
The announcement was quite startling to Xbox fans that have been anticipating Quantum’s arrival ever since its teaser trailer debuted at E3 in 2013. Microsoft’s reasoning for the delay was due to “extending its incredible profile until next year.”
Sam Lake, Creative Director at Remedy Entertainment released a statement:
We’re really proud to be part of the incredible Xbox One line-up. We thank our fans for their patience, and want them to know that the team is taking advantage of this opportunity to polish and fine tune the game to create the kind of standout entertainment experience they’ve come to expect from us.
Quantum Break’s delay is only one of many that have hit the gaming market this year. Sony pushed back both Bloodborne’s and The Order 1886 original launch date before they were released this year. Also the next installment in the Uncharted series, Uncharted 4, only recently moved its launch date until sometime next year. Nintendo’s latest venture with the Legend of Zelda series, also intended to be released this year, was postponed until 2016.
Delays in games are not necessarily a bad thing, it often gives developers time to polish and iron out any unnecessary bugs that could hinder the overall performance of the game. One thing is for certain though, postponing Quantum Break’s launch will not hurt Xbox considering the amount of exclusive games being released this year such as Fable Legends, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Halo 5. Quantum Break isn’t the first nor last game to be delayed this year, so looks like we’ll have to wait until next year folks. Please visit Remedy Games for more details.
