Despite the upcoming release of the Xbox One, Microsoft announced plans to continue supporting their previous console into the future.
A spokesperson from Microsoft presented that the 360 has been “incredibly profitable” in the last few years at the tail end of the console’s life. He went on to explain that the Xbox One’s release on November 22nd wouldn’t be a nail in the coffin of the Xbox 360, as players will continue to receive customer support and hardware support for the next three years.
Microsoft hopes that the two consoles can co-exist and support one another. Furthermore, Microsoft is planning to launch 100 new games for the Xbox 360 over the next three years. Naturally, these games won’t be exclusives or entirely new content, but it’s nice to know that the console will still have some life in light of the next generation.
