The recent Xbox Game pass rumors are accurate and a sweet deal for Xbox fans. Yesterday, Microsoft officially announced its new game pass, Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family, following recent leaks regarding the plan’s option to be shared among friends and family. This new game pass seems like an upgrade from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, giving more people access to Xbox content at a killer price.
According to Microsoft, the new Friends & Family game pass allows up to five friends and family members to share one account, sharing access to a library of console and PC games, with new games added all the time. Group members can play at the same time on the same game, or even play online multiplayer games together. Members also can experience the same perks of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, including the EA Play Membership, completing quests to receive Microsoft Rewards points and redeeming gifts, free perks, and Xbox Live Gold. Group members also have access to cloud gaming supporting PCs, Android Phones and Tablets, and Smart TVs.
Setting up a Friends & Family game pass is easy as you only need a primary account holder. The primary account holder is responsible for payments and adding users to the group membership. Secondary users can be added or removed at the account holder’s convenience. To start, you must sign in through the digital Microsoft Store with an existing Microsoft account or create one to upgrade. Following that, you can invite friends or family through email, an invitation link, or a Microsoft Family group or remove them as you see fit.
Unfortunately, The Family & Friend plan isn’t available for worldwide release just yet. Currently, it is being piloted in Colombia and Ireland however, Microsoft alluded to the possibility of countries and regions being added in the future. While the USD price for the plan is still unknown Microsoft confirmed that the current price in Colombia and Ireland is 49,900 COP and 21.99 euros respectively.
