Microsoft Mixer Now Allows Users To Purchase Games Directly From Streamers

Microsoft Mixer has recently announced plans that allow for streamers to sell video games directly to their viewers. This feature will allow these individual streamers to receive a cut of the sale price, and allow users to purchase games without using Microsoft Mixer itself.

Purchases through Mixer must be enabled by the streamer while they are playing them, and are only compatible with Xbox One and Microsoft Windows 10. Once purchased, users do not need to exit the stream to receive their game, as it will immediately be in their library without the need to input a redeem code as is usually necessary. The games that can be purchased are all found within the Microsoft store, and include DLC packs.

Streamers will receive 5% back from the purchase at launch of the program, suggesting it can increase or decrease in the future. Streamers can individually elect to promote specific versions of a game, base game, or DLC, allowing for their own input being part of the marketing. Microsoft Mixer used to be a streaming service called Beam, which aimed to promote real-time player interaction with viewers, much like Twitch. The Mixer mobile app was released recently, allowing for users to be able to participate in chats or streamers on the go.

Mixer partners will be able to start selling games within the next few days, though the specific date has not been specified. Other non-partnered streamers may also gain access to being able to sell within the next coming months. Further updates will be provided on their Twitter.
