MGSV: The Phantom Pain’s PC Release Date Moved Up And System Requirements Revealed

As fans continue patiently waiting for the release of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid V: Phanton Pain, PC fans have had it in the backs of their minds that they’ll be waiting an additional two weeks to play the port, but a recent announcement has changed that. Konami has revealed that they’ve been moving forward more efficiently than predicted with the PC port, and so the release date has been changed to September 1st, to be released alongside its console counterparts. President of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. Tomotada Tashiro had this to say:

We initially did not think it would be possible to get such an epic game out onto PC in time for launch alongside its console counterparts, but all involved have worked diligently to meet the demands of our PC consumers. Now PC users will be able to explore the vibrant and beautifully-realised locations and set-pieces that elevate Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painbeyond all other action titles. We feel confident that Steam users will be satisfied with the contents we will provide for the Steam version.

For those unaware, the original release date given for the PC port was September 15th when the given release date for the console versions was always September 1st. With that in mind, this is a welcome surprise from developers that are clearly working their butts off. And it’s extra exciting for these fans because of the features within the PC version. Those that pre-order MGSV:PP‘s PC port through Steam will receive Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes free of charge, and MGSV:PP will be capable of running in 4k, which many are rather ecstatic about. In layman’s terms, it’s going to look gorgeous, assuming players have the hardware to run at those settings.

Speaking of hardware, Konami has also revealed the system requirements necessary to play the PC port on Steam’s forums. They are as follows:

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 7×64, Windows 8×64 (64-bit OS Required)
Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 (3.40 GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2GB) or better (DirectX 11 card Required)
DirectX: Version 11
Hard Drive: 28 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 7×64, Windows 8×64 (64-bit OS Required)
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 (3.60GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (DirectX 11 graphic card required)
DirectX: Version 11
Hard Drive: 28 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card (Surround Sound 5.1)

The things that won’t surprise those with any computer hardware knowledge are the DirectX 11 compatible video card and the 64-bit OS requirements. Needless to say, if players plan to play at 4k, they’ll need to have a rather powerful rig. Luckily, the game will be playable at far more manageable setting that older or less powerful rigs will be able to handle.

Once more, players will be able to get their hands on the game for PlayStation 3/4, Xbox 360/One, and PC on September 1st, 2015.
