Metal Wolf Chaos Coming to Modern Consoles and PC

During their E3 livestream last night, Devolver Digital announced that they will be bringing FromSoftware’s cult-classic mech game Metal Wolf Chaos to modern platforms. Metal Wolf Chaos XD will also be brought to American consoles, as well.

Metal Wolf Chaos is a game that tells what may be the strangest tale of American politics outside of a Metal Gear game. The player takes control of United States president Michael Wilson, who must defend his country against an enemy force led by his running mate Richard Hawk. Instead of leading his troops from inside a bunker like most presidents would, Michael takes the hardcore route and personally fights the enemy from the cockpit of the official presidential assault mech Metal Wolf. As well as being a fun arcade action game which pits you against large waves of enemies, the game is primarily known for it’s crazy story and it’s deliciously hammy voice acting, with highly quotable lines such as “RIIIICHARD!’ or “Suck on my MISSILE PUNCH.”

The game was originally launched by FromSoftware, the studio behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne, back in 2004 on the Xbox. However, this version was only released in Japan, and required importing or the usage of an emulator for anyone outside of Japan who wanted to play it. The upcoming remaster will solve that issue and be much more accessible to American players. The Steam page for the game also lists some new features and quality of life improvements for the remaster, including upgraded visual fidelity, refined controls and gameplay, a new save system, and 4K and 1080p graphics support for modern widescreen.

Metal Wolf Chaos XD is slated to Mech America Great Again sometime later this year. It will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Steam.
